STATELINE (WIFR) – A local lawmaker continues to be proactive when it comes to checking in on Stateline VA clinics.
U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos is learning more about the state of the VA clinic in Freeport.
She reviewed scheduling procedures with administration as well as meeting with some of the veteran patients. Bustos says she has been monitoring all VA facilities in her district since the nationwide scandal broke.
“What we did learn is they’ve outgrown their space. They need to go to a bigger space in order to accommodate the number of patients that they serve and that is in the works. They hope to have some decisions made later this fall as to where they will be moving.”
Representative Bustos supported the veterans access to care act that would allow veterans to seek care at non-VA facilities.
