WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) greeted 80 veterans from Peoria’s Honor Flight at the World War II Memorial. The veterans she welcomed to our nation’s capital today served in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization committed to bringing veterans to our nation’s capital. Veterans across the nation travel together according to region in order to view our country’s memorials built in their honor.
“Welcoming our region’s veterans to the nation’s capital is always an honor,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “Our veterans deserve to be recognized for their service, and taking the time to thank them for their sacrifice is one small way we can show them our appreciation. Honor Flights do an excellent job arranging such a special day for veterans and I am humbled to have had the opportunity to visit with them today to express my gratitude – especially as we prepare to observe Memorial Day.”
