GALESBURG: Bustos Announces $300,000 Federal Grant for Knox College

WASHINGTON — Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17), a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced that Knox College has been selected to receive a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The funding was awarded through the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program.

“The potential our students hold is boundless – their opportunities to advance should be, too,” said Congresswoman Bustos. “I’m glad to announce that Knox College will be receiving $300,000 in federal funding to propel students from disadvantaged backgrounds toward earning graduate degrees. By investing in our young people and ensuring that students from all backgrounds reach their potential, we’ll build a brighter future for us all.”

The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program awards grants to institutions of higher education to prepare students for doctoral studies. The program supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have demonstrated strong academic potential. The goal of the program is to increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society.
