WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) announced a $880,000 grant for the Illinois Department of Transportation to be used for Knox County Highway 4 alignment improvements. The grant is awarded through the Federal Highway Administration.
“I’m happy to announce this important investment for Knox County,” Congresswoman Cheri Bustos said. “Today’s grant will help play a critical role in improving the infrastructure of our region, ensuring our highways remain safe for travel and shipment of goods, and will lead to local job creation.”
This grant will allow the Illinois Department of Transportation to increase the level of safety for motorists by improving both horizontal and vertical alignments. The innovative feature to be utilized in this project is three-dimensional (3D) modeling. The 3D modeling technology is expected to provide significant cost savings, reduced lane closures, and increased safety for construction workers.
