Bustos Statement on Trumpcare’s Senate CBO Score

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17), Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, released the following statement after the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office released its analysis of the Senate Republicans’ current draft of Trumpcare:

“Today, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office confirmed that hardworking Americans will pay more for less care and fewer protections under Trumpcare. Even worse, a staggering 22 million Americans will lose their health care altogether. If Washington Republicans pass this bill, the real and lasting consequences are unconscionable – rural hospitals will close their doors, seniors will lose access to long-term care, older Americans will be slapped with a crushing age tax and people with preexisting conditions will once again be priced out of the insurance market. Instead of ramming through a health care bill that will harm all but the ultra-wealthy, Democrats and Republicans should work across the aisle to fix what’s broken in health care and bring down costs for all Americans.”
