Bustos Statement on the House Vote to Restore Accountability in Washington

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a civil contempt resolution to stop the administration’s attempts to avoid accountability:

“Hardworking families are sick of political corruption in Washington. That’s why, today, we voted to say enough is enough. Congress has a Constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch, but Washington insiders in this administration are stonewalling and rigging the system.

“If Washington Republicans can’t even be trusted to comply with the most basic oversight requirements, how could they ever be trusted to stand up to big drug companies that are gouging hardworking families across Illinois? Our Democratic majority was elected on a commitment to crack down on corruption in Washington so we can get real results for the people. That’s exactly what we did today.”
