WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) released the following statement in advance of the Fourth of July:
“On this day, Americans across the country will come together for parades, barbeques and gatherings to celebrate a common set of values and freedoms we all hold dear. As we celebrate the founding of our nation, these are the things that bring us all a sense of community and belonging. I always think about my grandpa and all of the brave men and women who’ve risked their lives to defend these ideals and allow us to enjoy these celebrations together. I still keep his American Legion cap in my office to remind me of the responsibility we have to honor those who serve our country. This holiday, let us remember that there is much more that unites us than divides us. I wish everybody celebrating a happy and safe Fourth of July.”
