WASHINGTON — This week, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17),Chair of the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee of the House Agriculture Committee, joined a committee hearing reviewing renewable energy opportunities in rural America. During the hearing, Bustos joined colleagues from the Midwest in promoting year-round E-15 to help reduce pain at the gas pump resulting from rising gas prices.
“With record-high gas prices as a result of Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, we need to take action to reduce prices at the pump,” said Congresswoman Bustos. “By allowing for year-round E-15 this year, we can save consumers money, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and support our family farmers in the process. I was proud to join colleagues last week in a letter urging President Biden to prioritize homegrown, renewable biofuels as a replacement for Russian energy sources and on legislation to increase the availability and production of American biofuels. This is a solution we can utilize right now.”
