Bustos on MSNBC: House Democrats Pass “Momentous” Legislation, Deliver on Key Promise For the People

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) spoke on MSNBC before she helped pass the For the People Act out of the House of Representatives. Congresswoman Bustos was an original cosponsor and helped introduce the legislation earlier this year – which includes major reforms to clean up corruption in Washington, hold politicians accountable with higher ethical standards and increase access to the ballot box for American voters.

Excerpts from the interview are below:

“We’re going to get something momentous done – we’re passing our For the People Act.”

“This is something I hear about every time I go home. I do something called Supermarket Saturdays where I just listen to people – ask them what’s on their mind. And the number one issue I hear is… ‘just make Washington work for us. Stop all the self-dealing that’s going on out in Washington’ and that’s what we’re accomplishing today.”
