WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) met with the Transportation for Illinois Coalition to hear about their priorities and discuss work on a major infrastructure package. The group included representatives from organized labor, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, contractors and engineers.
“For years, investing in our infrastructure has been a top priority of mine – and I’m optimistic about the momentum behind House Democrats’ plan to rebuild our country through a big, bold infrastructure package,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “I’d like to thank the Transportation for Illinois Coalition for taking the time to meet with me today and I look forward to pushing our shared priorities – like modernizing our locks and dams, repairing our roads and bridges, and bringing broadband to rural communities.”
Congresswoman Bustos previously served for six years on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and was instrumental in passing a bipartisan, long-term Highway Bill. Now, she sits on the powerful Appropriations Committee which oversees federal spending and the Department of Transportation. This month, she testified before the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and submitted her priorities to the Chairman and Ranking Member.
