The Deadline to Submit Damage Assessment is Friday, August 9th

MOLINE – Last week, the State of Illinois formally requested that Stephenson and Winnebago counties be added to the state’s ongoing damage assessment following flooding. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has agreed to this request. Congresswoman Bustos worked closely with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) to ensure Stephenson and Winnebago counties were included in this assessment and could potentially qualify for federal aid.

“The flooding across our communities has been heartbreaking and it’s vital we have an accurate assessment of the extent of the damage,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “That’s why I am pleased that FEMA has decided to account for flooding damage in Stephenson and Winnebago counties in the State’s Preliminary Damage Assessment, which will potentially allow these counties to receive federal aid. I strongly urge residents of Stephenson, Winnebago and other impacted counties to report their damages as soon as possible to ensure federal resources are available to the State of Illinois and residents.”

Illinois counties participating in this assessment must meet or exceed more than $19 million in residential, commercial and governmental damages to qualify for federal assistance. The deadline to submit damage assessment information is Friday August 9, 2019, and Illinois residents and business owners can submit an initial damage report by clicking HERE.
