Bustos Discusses Economic Development with Rockford Community Leaders

Continuing her laser-focus on creating jobs and growing the Illinois economy, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) met today with local leaders to discuss economic development in the Rockford region.

She received an update on the Rockford Area Economic Development Council’s newly announced Rockford 20/20 5-year strategic plan to create 10,500 jobs from Mike Nicholas, the organization’s Executive Director.

Bustos also met with Mike Dunn of the Chicago Rockford International Airport to discuss Congressional support for the airport’s pending maintenance, repair and overhaul facility (MRO) that will create 500 initial and as many as 1,000 jobs over the next few years. Bustos, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Aviation Subcommittee, has been a strong supporter of the airport. She attended the announcement of this MRO project last year and has announced several grants for the airport during her tenure in Congress.
