WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) announced a $2,394,899 grant for the Head Start program in the Rock Island-Milan school district. Head Start promotes the school readiness of young children from low-income families from birth to age five by enhancing their cognitive, social and emotional development. The grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“Continuing to invest in early childhood education means a lifetime of opportunity and success for kids which is why I’m so proud to announce this critical funding for the Rock Island-Milan School District,” said Congresswoman Cheri Bustos. “All of our children, no matter which street they live on, deserve the chance to reach their full potential. By teaching children from disadvantaged families the skills necessary to get ahead in school, we’re building a better future for our community.”
