Bustos Statement on Stopgap Budget

MOLINE, IL – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) released the following statement upon the approval of a stopgap budget by the Illinois General Assembly and Governor Bruce Rauner:

“For months, the people of Illinois have been pleading with Governor Rauner and the General Assembly to finally come together to pass a budget that funds our schools, roads, and other important services,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “Whether it has been women fleeing domestic violence, survivors of rape seeking counseling and support, or college students depending on MAP grants, this budget crisis has impacted those who’ve needed help the most. Illinois faces serious challenges and needs serious leadership, and while I’m encouraged that Governor Rauner has finally agreed to temporarily bring this ideologically driven, self-inflicted crisis to an end, the real and lasting damage has already been done for far too many Illinois families.”
